frig water filter

I just replaced the filter on my whirlpool side by side frig model #ED5VHEXV001 with a PUR filter 4396841 (http://www.repairclinic.com/referral.asp?R=153&N=1192982). my water is HORRIBLE now. the tap tastes better. what went wrong?

How long a go did you replace the filter? Did you flush several large glass of water and dump them out? How long between filter changes did you wait?
