Jeff, does the data on "How Old Is My Appliance" still valid for the newer Maytags in the Maytag built machines, or do we now go to the whrilpool section?
I am curious as to the age of a machine with these numbers:
Model - MFW9700SQ1
Serial - CSU1613625
and how they are deciphered now.
Thanks

or do we now go to the whirlpool section?
Newer Maytags are the Whirlpool.
This product appears to have been manufactured April of 2007

So this is deciphered on the Whlpl section, right? I get 2006 for the "S" in the model number. So I am still reading something wrong. Could you tell me what it is?
Also when did Whlpl start making Maytags. I knew they were, but have no idea when they started making them.
Thanks.

This here (http://www.appliance411.com/service/date-code.php) should help you out in the future.
Approx May 30, 2006

The letter in the model number indicates the year the model was introduced. For exact date of manufacturing of your machine, you must use the serial number. Kenmore model numbers on the other hand, give year of introduction and model year of machine.
