Do broil and bake elements have a good bit of difference in resistance?

I don't remember having to keep up with so many different resistances when doing things like testing stats and elements. Seems like it used to be more just testing for continuity.

Nope, some/small difference...

Depending on the manufacturer of the element, you will normally read between 19 ohms and 115 ohms.

I didn't much think so. So why, when I was testing a couple of elements in a Frigidaire stove, the broil would make my meter beep, but the bake would not?

Bake showed about 23 ohms.

Higher resistance can prevent the beeper from making a noise...we try to never use the beeper when ohm testing...JMO!

I thought under 100 would make it beep. Not the first time I have been mistaken though. :o

I like not having to look at the meter sometimes when checking for continuity.
