Another transmission?

Model - VVSR1070D5WW

This thing was wobbling like something crazy and making a very bad noise when agitating. Agitator was very loose and wobbly. The bell coupling was also very loose and wobbly. I removed all that and the tranny shaft just flops back and forth. No bearing to fix that?
I assume if the transmission was okay, this shaft would not have this play in it, right? Tub bearing would have no affect on it, right?

Especially the newer ones, it seems. I am not sure what I mean by "newer". This one and a few more I have come across are far from being new.
