Hi there,
Our stove is original to our 1950's house and was hard-wired in. We recently rewired the plug and installed a stove receptacle for it so that we could move it if necessary.
3 of our 4 burners are intermittent and my wife has actually fixed them a couple of times by redoing the connections when the wires become loose. However, she once reconnected one of them the wrong way and when she turned the power back on and then turned the burner on, there was a loud pop and we lost power everywhere. After resetting the panel and disconnecting the wires on the burner, she managed to reconnect them the proper way. After working well for about 3 months, we are back down to 1 working burner with several intermittent burners, and there isn't much wire left to work with.
How do you find a good repair company that specializes in old appliances?
I am not comfortable with trying to fix this ... especially since we lost all power to the house once already.
Could there be any damage to the panel, or any of the GFCI's or AFCI's or actual receptacles or wiring if that happens again?
