I have a GE gas stove with which the oven would not light anymore. So I replaced both the safety valve and igniter. The safety valve was bad and had no continuity. Anyway, it lights perfectly now but the flames are burning yellow and burning out of control instead of the pretty blue as it should. I've tried adjusting the burner tube but it makes no difference either way. Seems like it needs more air. The flames even go up into the oven which deffinetly shouldn't be happening. Do you have any pointers for me and do you think the safety valve could possibly be the wrong one? Some of the numbers on the valve match the old one but not all of them. Thankyou so much for your help in advance! I appreciate it!

Hi Jeff,

I believe the stove model is JGBS09PEH3WW. I say believe because the number on the stove is scratched a little and hard to make out and I cannot find the paper work that came with it. I'm running propane. I purchased the safety valve(part no WB19K10006 (http://www.repairclinic.com/referral.asp?R=153&N=963627)) from appliancepro.com and they said this part would work for my stove. The igniter no. is 501A (http://www.repairclinic.com/referral.asp?R=153&N=12872). The one number on both safety valves are the same(NC-4125-5) but the other two sets of numbers are different.
Thanks again for you help!

I'm running propane

Did the new valve get converted to LP? It normally comes ready for NG and must be adjusted for LP...

An idea of what is involved...
