hi Jeff. the cuppler was broke. replaced it still just makes the noise it generally makes when cupler is broken but still no agitate or spin, it will drain. bad transmission? thanks. ps I've had this happen once before at that time I thought the trany was bad on that unit ,so I junked it.

Hi,

Certainly sounds like a sour tranny. Usually before we replace the coupler we try manually turning the input shaft on the tranny....one direction is agitation and other direction is spin.....if these do not occur when manually turning the input shaft we don't bother trying a coupler.
Another issues sometimes is the shaft could be ground rounded ( either motor or tranny ).

thanks jeff. ya I don't think its the motor cause it still drains. next time i'll do as you say and try the tranny shaft first.thanks again.

Yupper, motor runs in both modes, should be ok.....just the motor shaft and tranny shaft would be checked.
