I have a roper dryer supposedly somewhere around 4 year sold. I am doing a test run with it on auto now. I suspect the auto cycle is not working. If it is not working, what needs to be checked? Cycling stat?

Went back out to check it, and it had advanced a little. The few clothes that was in it felt very hot and dry. The timer still had over half way to go. It had probably ran a good 30 to 40 minutes.

Have another question concerning this dryer, but will make another post when I have the model number with me.

Yes, operating/cycling stat....heating element ( if electric ), safety thermostat ( in case the heat has been cycling on that from a air flow issue or such )...

Yup, shorted to ground.
