Jeff, didn't you tell me that the agitator just goes along for the ride in the spin cycle?

Reason I ask is I am going to look at one today that is supposed to have a bad agitator. Not sure what the symptoms were. I think the guy said no spin. I am thinking a bad agitator would have no effect on the spin cycle.

Maybe I have the symptom wrong. I am hoping it just has a bad agitator or agitator coupler which would only affect the wash cycle, right?

Normally yes.
Would cause issues if the washer tried to agitate and spin at the same time.

Gotta write these things down ;)

Yep, I need to. :(

Just trying to figure best way to determine if the problem is just the agitator and/or coupler.

Normally gets stripped out and the shaft turns but not the agitator.

Exactly the case with this one. Bought, replaced coupler, problem fixed. I think the new owner will be very pleased with it.
