It pays to shop around...

I recently had to repair my older caloric gas stove. The part was a simple ignition switch and the repair took all of 5 minutes to complete. The issue for this simple switch I saw a price range from about $15.00 to $45.00. What the issue was the crazy shipping costs to get the part. In the end, it was a mid range priced supplier that had the best combination of part cost and shipping.

Moral of the story, be sure to check out the total cost of the transaction before pulling the trigger on the purchase.

Cheers

John

Hi,

I personally don't mind spending more when it comes to a Mom & Pop operation...I prefer them over large box stores!

JMO!

Good job on the checking around :)

I totally agree. I have had this conversation a number of times with my supplier also. It is however tough to justify some instances where the difference is as much as 200%. If it is close, usually around 10-20% I will stay local depending on the item and amount. I also understand that there is a value in an items being right there on the shelf.
