View Full Version : Jenn-air electric wall oven -- temperature problems, heating slowly, strange behavior

I've got a Jenn-air electrical convection wall oven, model #8114 P955-60 that has been doing some strange temperature related things for the last month or two. First of all, it seems that you have to set it for about 100 C higher than the actual temp you want (so for 400 you set 500) except when the temp is under about 300, then 300 C is 300 C. Also, it takes a long time to heat to the proper temp, after some investigation it seems that it will reach about 350 and then stay there although the display says it is still getting warmer. If I cancel and then restart the Bake again then the oven will realize it's not at the desired temperature and continue heating up. It's like the thermostat starts making up it's own readings some where after 300 C until you wake it up again. Where do I start troubleshooting? I've already checked the breaker, no problems there... Thanks!

Hi,

model #8114 P955-60

Not a model#..appears to be apart# from something, a tag or piece of paper or such.

http://www.applianceaid.com/model-number.php Some model# helps.

?F (Fahrenheit) and not ?C (Celsius) right?

Also, it takes a long time to heat to the proper temp

Both bake and broil elements work (get red)?

JJW 9530DDS

That works :)
Has two things to control the oven temp....oven temp sensor and clock/control.

143
Oven sensor Manufacturer Number 74008369 (http://www.repairclinic.com/referral.asp?R=153&N=1034676)

Oven temp sensor should ohm approx 1000-1100 ohms at room temp, wires should be checked from the sensor all the way to the clock/control.

If the sensor is ok...

Single convection electronic oven control Manufacturer Number 74009716 (http://www.repairclinic.com/referral.asp?R=153&N=1072535)

They are both turning on, yes

Good.

Yes, Celsius.

Sure about that?...260?C is 550?F.

I never noticed that our oven is Fahrenheit, guess I'm not in charge of cooking... I just thought we were good canadians with an oven that only uses C...

After testing the sensor (the reading was in the range you mentioned) I can only assume it's the board? I noticed in some other forum posts that there is an option to have your board repaired, is that available in Canada too?

Thanks for all your help!
