I have a kitchenaid dishwasher (KUDK01ILBS6), stainless tub that's about 8 years old. It stops after about 15 minutes and then does the blinking light thing. For a while we would put a cup of really hot water into it after about 12 minutes and then it would keep running - the thermostat sensed the change in temp. But after a while the inside started getting black fungus/mold around the soap dispenser and it didn't seem to be cleaning the dishes as well. I'm assuming the water didn't stay hot enough. I checked the heating element and the high temp thermostat for continuity and they check out OK. I'm thinking I need a new control board, but before i spend the $, I want to make sure there isn't something else I should be checking, or whether it's worth repairing an 8 yr old unit. But I hate to just throw it out.

thanks

steve

Hi,

It sounds like possibly the high limit thermostat (#30) is not closing, thermistor ( #25 ) is open or off ( tech sheet should have ohm reading ), or the electronic control board might be faulty. Check the thermostat for continuity. It's located by the element terminal and held to the tub with a clip. If it checks good replace the control.
