My Whirlpool dryer stopped working on Saturday. The dryer was getting power, however the "sensing" light was flashing. When I depressed the start button, the dryer clicked as if it was going to begin the cycle but did not start to spin. I removed the top cover of the unit and as you can see from the pictures, I am not happy with what I saw. It appears that the whole control board was melting. Anyone have any idea what may have caused this?

Hi,
WED94HEX
Missing a few digits...
http://www.applianceaid.com/model-number.php Model# helps.
9 different models start with those digits.
That's a big boom!!
Kinda looks like it start with that large relay ( 4th pic ), maybe a loose wire getting hotter and hotter and finally let go.

Sorry, it appears I ran out of characters while typing in the title box. The model number is WED94HEXW0. The warranty company is ordering a new control board which should be installed in the next 5-7 days. Does anyone have any idea on how to prevent this in the future?

I doubt the same thing would happen twice....more likely something new would/might occur in the future. Just one of those "it happens" things that are sent to try our patience.
