Turning dryer off

Something I do not remember ever thinking about: Is it proper or advisable to turn an electric dryer off by turning the timer to 'off'? I always just opened the door. Today I turned the timer to off, and was just wondering about it doing damage to the timer.

Nope, no damage will come from turning off the timer to the off position....or opening the door.
