Dryer timers with similar numbers

Two timers
8299781 Estate by Whirlpool
8299784 Kenmore made by Whirlpool

Looks like the latter just has a few more bells and whistles.
Can the latter be used to replace the former?

Mounting appears the same...I doubt the cycles are the same and in the same spots.....but for testing or such the higher model timer could certainly be used....again I doubt the cycles will line up with the consol of the lower model one.
