The door seal on this Whlpl frontloader I got is covered with mold and smells bad.

I have read several opinions on this problem and what to do about it.
Jeff, what do you suggest?

We have a front loading Samsung, wife keeps it cleaned, and we do not have this problem.
Evidently the Whlpl was not kept clean, not to mention it was in the basement.

After some reading on these things, not sure I care to have anymore.

If just a small area, wash it with bleach mixture to kill the spours.
If a large area or the boot has been stained from the mold, replace it.
We wash out our front load washers with d/w power and bleach once a month with a hot cycle to help clean them up.....works well for us.

Yeah my wife washes ours in the house (Samsung) once or twice a month and does not have this problem.

The one I am talking about came pretty cleaned up pretty good. I didn't know, I had read somewhere the bleach was not good for some of the seals. I used a cleaner with bleach in it. I will check closer tomorrow.

An ammonia cleaner ( I hate the smell! ) might work as well.

Just an aside here for some who may read this and not be aware, might want to be sure all bleach is rinsed away before using ammonia. The two together can create dangerous gases.
