View Full Version : Is there a way to test a Gas Dryer without a Gas Hookup?

I am lately getting in a few appliances in my resell business, but nobody in the complex here has a gas hookup.

Some dryers look newer and real nice, but without gas I obviously can not test the heating elements.

Is there a way to simply test them? Maybe with a Gas tank similar to propane tanks?

I hate having to junk perfectly good dryers, simply because I can not test them.
I guess an alternative would be to find a friend that has gas and take the dryers there to test them,. but that seems like a LOT of work.

Any ideas or suggestions?

We are talking several dryers a week.

Hi,

Bad news: natural gas is not really practical in a tank. It is not easy to compress, so it isn't really possible to get much in the tank. That is not to say it is not available, but the gas is compressed to a very high pressure which requires a very heavy and expensive tank and companies that refill them are not common.

That may be the best idea.

Converting them to propane to test likely isn't cost effective either.
