I have a GE Prodigy Gas Dryer, DPXR483GA2WW that I've been working on for a few days. It's making a fast, loud knocking noise when it runs and when it stops it sounds like a screeching halt. I replaced the front drum bearing and slides which were worn out but I thought the knocking noise might be the rear bearing so I replaced that, and also the belt. The old rear bearing didn't look bad when I took it off but I put the new one on anyway. The two repairs didn't get rid of the problem. Wondering what I might try next.
Thanks

Hi,
Check the idler pulley ( keeps tension on the belt )....for cracked, worn, etc...
349 Idler pulley wheel (http://www.repairclinic.com/referral.asp?R=153&N=275158)
See if the rubber motor end bells are cracked/cracking...
350 Dryer motor kit. Replaces old "T" & "V" style motors. Includes 2 motor pulleys and basic directions (http://www.repairclinic.com/referral.asp?R=153&N=1256970)
See if the fan blower is loose on the motor shaft or has it shifted/moved on the shaft and is now rubbing...
351 Blower wheel (http://www.repairclinic.com/referral.asp?R=153&N=1089096)
The blower wheel uses A 3/8" bolt to hold it to the motor shaft.
