How to unlock GE oven door?

I have a GE (profile?). It's at least 10 years old model #JKP26GT1BB (double wall oven).

I ran the self clean cycle. It gave an F2 error. I looked that up, it seems that the cooling fan for the board may be the culprit on this.

It has been 2 days since this started and the door won't unlock. I have:
- cut power at the breaker for ~15 min, restored power... still locked
- started a self clean cycle, let it run for ~ 15 min, canceled and let cool several hours... still locked

My conclusion is that the lock is shot, however I can't figure out how to get it open. On some ovens I see the motor to lock the door is in the rear, which is easily accessible. But my reading of the schematics here: http://www.appliancepartspros.com/pa...kp26gt1bb.html suggest I have a different kind of lock assembly.

I am hoping someone has experience this before and knows how to get the door unlocked...and I promise I'll never self clean again!

Hi,

F2 can be....a stuck relay, bad or clogged cooling fan, bad temp sensor.

I have:

Except it appears your lock comes in bits and pieces...

however I can't figure out how to get it open

Only 3 ways I know left, making a hook from a welding rod or metal coat hanger and slide it between the door and oven hoping to hook the latch and move it enough that the door can open.
Try taking the door apart ( outer panal inward ) in hope of getting inside enough to manually move the latch hook enough so the door can be opened.
BFH and break the door open.

Okay. I was able to get the control panel off of the top oven. I can disassemble the latch to get the oven open, however the motor is still in the "locked" position, so the oven will not operate except to clean. I did notice that the motor for the latch was Hot to the touch. I assume this means there is a relay somewhere that is closed that shouldn't be. Can someone direct me to wiring diagrams so I can try to ohm this out? I haven't been able to find a service manual for this model, only the user manual.

Can you just remove the motor and reset the lock to an off or unlocked position?

GE doesn't put manuals nor wire diagrams online.
I have a manual that is -only close- to yours...

Thanks Jeff,

I was able to get the motor out, but I couldn't get it to turn by hand. I'll have to be a little less careful with it... I certainly can see the switches that tell the board if it locked or not so I may be able to modify the points on the motor to fool the board so it's usable.
